Kreative Decks Projects
The Duchesse Anne

The Duchesse Anne is back from the Damen shipyard.
The first step is to build a 78-metre-long watertight cocoon, made in three sections to better withstand the wind.
Next, we pour a Sika Transfloor levelling compound.
We need an average thickness of 25mm to correct the steel plate imperfections and achieve a smooth curve.
We received the wood: FSC-certified Iroko, measuring each plank as 120x65mm (width x depth) and 8 metres in length.
The wood was air-dried, then kiln-dried to achieve approxiamately 13% moisture content.
First bonding steps: we weld studs to the deck and bond the wood using Sikaflex 298.
It takes a lot of adhesive!
Next, we bolt the plank to the studs for a perfect, long-lasting hold.
The aft deck is being installed.
The installation of the deck fittings need to be planned. Reinforcements are placed beneath the metal deck so that the boat could sail again one day.
In the workshop, the craftsmen are preparing the steering wheel shafts.
We also carried out extensive carpentry work inside the vessel.
In preparation for the installation of the chart room, special profiles are being fitted.
Delivery of the chart room, disassembled and overhauled in our workshops during the winter.
Voila! The lead roof is still missing and will be installed by a local craftsman.
Then comes the time for the handrails. They will be made from sipo wood.
The wood is provided by the Maritime and Port Museum of Dunkirk, which has been drying in its workshops for several years.
A very beautiful project. Thanks to the CUD, the Maritime Museum, and the people of Dunkirk!
